Become a metal caster!

Ever wanted to create your own metal casting mold? Come join us at the CAC for a Scratchblock Workshop! Never worked with metal before? You’re the perfect person to take the workshop. No prior experience needed, just a want for fun. Kid friendly ages 5+ (ages 16 and under require adult supervision on site with them).

You can pick up your scratch-blocks at the Cultural Arts Center (402 W. Main Street, Whitewater, WI 53190), starting September 18th during gallery hours. Please wear a mask while picking up scratch-block. Purchase price of $25 includes your scratch-block mold, metal for casting the day of the pour, a page of how to instructions, and a modest tool kit. The pour will be run and operated by the UW-Whitewater Sculpture Department and Arttaysia, LLC. Scratch-blocks were created by FeLions Studios.

You’ll need safety glasses. Those are the only things that will not come with your kit. MAKE SURE to bring your scratch-block back to the CAC no later than 2:00pm on September 27th for the pour!

September 27th from 2:00pm - 4:00pm all participants are invited to watch our live aluminum pour demonstration on site, outside, in the CAC parking lot. Watch the pour and see our metal exhibit. Once your piece is poured and cooled (done so by professionals), participants can take their piece home the same day!
