Art From My Heart

Opening Reception: Sunday, May 5 from 1:00 - 4:00pm

In May 2019, the Cultural Arts Center (CAC) will feature “Art From My Heart," a solo show featuring more than 100 of Karolyn Alexander’s acrylic abstracts, collage and watercolor paintings. The show will be open Thursday through Sunday from noon until 5 pm, May 2nd – May 26th 2019 at the Whitewater Arts Alliance’s Cultural Arts Center, 402 W. Main St., Whitewater, Wisconsin. Karolyn will host an Artist’s Reception: Sunday May 5th, 2019 from 1:00 - 4:00pm at the CAC. The reception is free and open to the public.

In addition, Karolyn will be doing some gallery talks and demonstrations on the following days/times at the Cultural Arts Center. We hope you can join us! All events are free to attend and open to the public.

Saturday, May 11 from 1:00 - 3:00pm
Watercolor & Mixed Media
Karolyn will explain different mixed media techniques that she has used in her watercolor paintings. Demonstration at 2:00pm - Color Mixing: Tips for mixing delicious colors with watercolor paints

Sunday, May 19 from 1:00 - 3:00pm
Collage
Different collage techniques, compositions and adhesives will be described by Karolyn using her collage paintings as reference. Demonstration at 2:00 pm - Personalizing collage papers: Techniques for painting interesting collage papers and altering magazine pages for collage.

Saturday, May 25 from 1:00 - 3:00pm
Abstracts
Karolyn will discuss working in series and show examples. Demonstration at 2:00: Mark Making adds a personal touch to an abstract painting. Karolyn will use traditional and unusual tools to create variety of unique marks.  Altering and veiling marks will also be demonstrated.
