The Whitewater Arts Alliance (WAA) will be presenting Bartlett’s woodcut collection in the Cultural Arts Center starting in September. Roughly 40 pieces have been collected by Dan Richardson.
About the artist:
Elwood Warren Bartlett was an American woodcut and linocut artist. Barlett was born in Walworth County, Wisconsin in 1906. He was a self-taught artist working as an engraver and illustrator in Milwaukee and also for the Chicago Tribune. Bartlett made woodcut and linocut engravings. He died in Elgin, Illinois in 1981.
His work can be found in the Library of Congress, New York Public Library, Milwaukee Public Library, West Bend Art Museum and in the corporate collection of West Bend Mutual Insurance Company.
