UW-Whitewater Costume Exhibit

An exhibit of unique and creative costumes designed by Marshall Anderson from the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater Theatre and Dance Department will be featured in the August exhibit at the Whitewater Arts Alliance's Cultural Arts Center on 402 West Main Street.

The show opens on Thursday, August 3 and runs through Sunday, August 27, and will be accessible Thursdays through Sundays from noon to 5 p.m. during those dates. A free reception, open to the community, will be held Sunday, August 6 from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m.

"I have always loved creating costumes for theatrical characters – trying to reach the essence of those characters through the use of color, line, shape, and texture. While costumes only truly 'come to life' onstage on actors in performance, I am very happy that Linda Long and the Whitewater Arts Alliance have given me the opportunity to show some of my work from UW-W 'up close'. I hope the community enjoys the exhibit as much as I did in creating it," said Marshall Anderson of the UW-W Theatre and Dance Department.

Linda Long, president of the Whitewater Arts Alliance, said, "I love theater! And I love the set designs and costumes! It has been a goal of mine for several years to host an exhibit of costumes. And all it took was one call to Marshall Anderson of the UW-W Theatre/Dance Department. Marshall was more than willing to help make this happen. We are so appreciative of the great working relationship that the WAA has with the College of Arts and Communication. This exhibit will be great fun!"
